I Dont want to Download Calculus

“Never memorize what you can look up in books.” (Albert Einstein)

With the constant scanning of books into digital counterparts, we may soon need to update this quote by saying, never look up in books what can be easily found on the internet. Why reference,  when you can Google, and soon enough we you will be saying why Google when you can download.   What is occurring is the breakdown between what separates mind from information.  Over time mind and information will have a near instant connection and this will have a profound change in our education system.

When taking into account our education system, I believe our system is set up to encourage a near mindless manipulation of information.  We are constantly told to remember various data sets of information for nothing other than exporting the information into a quiz that rarely tests what you have learned but rather what you have memorized.  So while it may seem like getting information directly into your brain is the ultimate answer, how can we ever test if people are truly intelligent under this system.

Lack of information analysis is but a single facet of how our current education system does very little to promote individual creativity, this is primarily due to the inability of being unable to persue your creative outlets.  How can you do this when you have things to memorize for the next exam?  Yet what if you no longer had to memorize anything  how would you study for exams, would you even study at all. For example what would you do if you had a computer connected to the internet while you took an exam ? In such a scenario you can have wolframalpha do all your math problems, reference all your history questions on Wikipedia and get book reviews on Google. What would you not be able to answer would be more of an appropriate question.  Obviously many changes would have to be  to know if people are truly absorbing the information they are scanning into their brains, but would it matter if they knew it or not?  Even if you simply downloaded or referenced source material every time you talked to me would it matter if you “knew” what I was talking about?

Of course this is just the silly view of a human that lacks the vision to see that our minds are essential harddrives to our thoughts, causing what is will occur  to just be extensions of that internal drive into a bigger harddrive in the cloud.  What’s the difference if I store my memories in my mind or online, as long as they are stored they say.  Which by the way it would be preferred to store your memories online in case your biological body suffers an irreversible malfunction…

Fictional Story application

Dear Diary
I stayed up all night studying for calculus last night, primarily because my parents wont let me get a mindnet earpiece. I just don’t get them, its not even surgical anymore and It would eliminate all of this pointless memorization I have to do. This is not fair  im almost 18 and I should be able to whatever I want to my body! My parents are are sooo legacy… Ahhhhhhh I cant wait to get out of this house and join the civilized world. Im tired of my friends calling me human, its getting embarrassing . Im tired of typing out my diary entries ahhhhh. If I had a mindnet I can just think it out. Sure theres a couple bugs but those people that got there brains hacked where extreme users, I would never attempt a complete nueral interface like them.  Well guys I have to go it’s getting late and you know us humans can't download calculus.
