The Artificialization of Human Emotions

Alternative researcher micheal tsarion discusses the creation of the posthuman world and what he believes will be the psychology that will drive this future society. This is but an excerpt of a larger body of work created by our friends over at red ice creations, which I highly recommend.

I particularly enjoy the emotional/ psychological approach he takes, not necessarily because I agree or disagree but for the conversation it creates. See, in my quest to cypher what all of this means and how the singularity will play itself out, I attempt not to overlook even the most trivial of human beliefs and preconceptions of what reality should and should not be. We have to always remember that our objective reality is but a reflection of our subconcious, we're all driven to create things, these creations may come in the form of art, music, video, or even words. Your thoughts are also an act of your creative will to create and soon these thoughts we all collectively have will merge and create something of it's own. Therefore understanding our future creation and where we will take this world has to also be an internal reflection of our will and desire.

These internal emotional psychological explorations sometimes take me into philosophical loops when I apply it to the creation and evolution of artificial intelligence. Ai will not be as artificial as we may all think. It may be more like an amplified and focused version of all human thought, yet if humans themselves become more artificial in our emotions then is the machine just a reflection of what we collectively wish to become?. After all we will teach the first machines with our knowledge, with our art, with our creations and manifestations of language be it computer code or natural English. They will learn what we teach them. It is very unlikely that the first sentient being to wake up and talk to us will do so in a language of it's own making. This might not take place for a couple of generations. This human element of intelligence be it in a machine or from the pages of the billions of books that exist will play a very strong part in the development of the seed to greater intelligence. It would take several generations of artificial/synthetic life/intelligence before it is growing, developing and learning things that had no human connection in it's creation. So we can rest assured that the discomfort of knowing machines may actually be more like us than we wish them to be, posses a lot of the emotions we have yet to fully understand.

In the mean time our best hopes lie in teaching what little we know about emotions to the coming cyber entities.
